Trusting Your Dreams

In my lifetime, I have had multitudes of big ideas and a few big dreams.  Some have passed along the wayside and a few have stayed with me, waiting patiently for their time to shine.  I have pitched the same big idea many, many times over the past six years.  I know it's a great idea, the few people with whom I have shared it have all been resolute in their belief that it is a great idea they'd get behind.  Yet getting past the gate keepers has proved impossible.

The thing about big dreams is that it's almost always a matter of timing.  When your big idea meets with the big moment, that's when ideas and dreams become realities.  I never gave up on this idea.  I've just been waiting for the right moment, the right team, the right set of possibilities to reveal themselves and it's here, now.

My big idea, that big dream I've been working towards is finally getting ready to unfold.  I've got a team of smart, motivated, talented people, we have a game plan and we're working behind the scenes to make it real.

It's easy to say, "Don't give up," because those are words and words are easy.  But not giving up is much harder to actually put into practice.  Rejection is painful.  Putting yourself out there is hard.  Staying the course requires patience and focus.

The world may celebrate dreamers who succeed, but there isn't much love for dreamers who won't just get their shit together and get a real job, settle down, dream smaller, accept defeat, give up, let it go, stop following that crazy dream and just get real.

They mostly mean well, the naysayers, the party poopers and the reality pushers.  Though it's true that a few folks may want to see you fall, most folks want to see you rise.  But even your biggest fans can lose steam after a while.  You can't expect the world to support your big dream or understand why you can't let it go.

It's up to you.

You have to keep the faith, you have to fan the flames and you have to keep believing.  If you know in your heart of hearts you have a brilliant idea, don't give up.  Buy yourself some pom poms and keep cheering.

The right moment will unfold.  You will be ready.  That big dream will come true.  It's only a matter of time.

Love
Madge

  1. Oh I am so so excited for you Madge, can't wait to see what it is and I can't wait to see you do a video of you doing the happy dance. YES, a happy dance video clip would be very nice, please.

As for the dreams, sigh! Even if the dream isn't fulfilled quite what we expect it seems the journey reveals new paths and opens new doors. so yes I feel we just have to plod on, plough ahead and do what we need to do.

  2. My 'big dream' happened on my son's 23rd birthday when we discussed how wonderful it would be for me to teach dozens, nay...hundreds of people at a time via the internet. My son celebrated his 36th B'Day this past August and the dream (that was an impossibility because of the technology or should I say 'lack thereof') was finally realized. With my 40 years of in-classroom teaching of ART and his degree in Electronic Film we finally made www.artdemos.com a reality. Now I get up every day with the excitement of a child knowing that I get to play all day while the video tapes run. I play, he edits and the people come. So the right moment is not always the moment you dream the big dream...sometimes it unfolds in its own time and your job is just to be the rock at the end of that glorious floating balloon.
